Richard Baumhammers, Attorney At Law

Richard Baumhammers, Attorney At Law, an immigration lawyer, hated immigrants. He hated what he believed was the downfall of America.

He had tried to organize a group called "The Free Market Party" and he wrote about the perceived "problems" that plague our country. Not unlike other racists, he championed the rights of European Americans and complained that they were being out-numbered by immigrants and minorities. The difference is that Baumhammers decided to act upon his hatred - coldly, swiftly and brutally.

Baumhammers, himself the son of Latvian immigrants, resided with his parents in the affluent area of Mount Lebanon just a few miles south of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. His parents were described as "pilars of the community." Baumhammers, for whatever reason, had let his law license expire and was unemployed. He was reportedly receiving mental health counseling and furthering his cause against immigrants and minorities.

On the morning of April 28, 2000, Richard went to town. On the way he stopped by

his 63-year-old next-door neighbors house - Anita Gordon. After shooting Ms. Gordon six time, Baumhammer then set the house on fire. Anita had committed a crime of magnanimous proportion as far as Richard was concerned - Ms. Gordon was Jewish.

As the Gordon house burned, Baumhammers drove about a mile to the India Grocers where he shot two employees. Next he reportedly fired on two synagogues, painting swastikas and "Jew" on the buildings. He then drove to the Ya Fei Chinese Cuisine restaurant at Robinson Town Center, about 10 miles from his home, where he fired on his victims in front of onlookers. The last shooting took place at the C.S. Kim School of Karate in Center Township, Beaver County where in his final act of mayhem and blood-lust, Baumhammers killed a black karate student after he reportedly pointed his weapon at but spared the life of a white companion. Police

apprehended Baumhammers in Ambridge, a few minutes after the final victim, Garry Lee, was shot. In all, five people were dead and one permanently paralyzed at the hands of Richard Baumhammers. These were not random acts of violence. Baumhammers targeted specific groups of ethnic differences and murdered with precision and deciveness because of their ethnic origins. He callously and brutally determined who lived and who died. He devastated families, creating orphans asking "why?" and widows mourning their dead. And his acts of devastation and sentencing of dive life terms were met with an explanation from the White Aryan Resistance leader, Tom Metzger:

"Demographic anarchy causes more and more violence. Baumhammers is not nuts. But the zoo he is forced to live in drove him to extreme measures. If anyone out there thinks this type of outburst will not happen over and over again you best wake up and smell the coffee. When the system judge blames WAR, COTC or STORMFRONT for spontaneous acts, he is either a fool or whistling past the graveyard. As demographic anarchy becomes even worse expect to see these cases multiply greatly. Even among displaced non-whites of other culture many will explode for similar reasons. We are not living in a homogenous culture. It's a bastard culture that will end pleasing no one. Richard Baumhammers' sentence is death times five -- five consecutive death sentences and hundreds of years in additional jail time, Richard S. Baumhammers may never walk the streets again. This only underlines the fact that you may kill or stop a messenger, but the message keeps on truckin. RACISM is alive, well and spreading. Most racism today is from non-whites against whites. When Whites are successful in shaking their Judeo liberal Christian mind fog, the process will reverse quickly."

Thus, Richard Baumhammers' acts of violence were taken up by the extremist right as a model of what is to come as white men begin to awake. No remorse for the victims or their families was forth-coming from these groups. Only tacit acceptance and "understanding" of the murders. Was Richard Baumhammers insane? We believe that he was no more more insane than Tom Metzger or Matt Hale or any number of other racists and xenophobes who advocate ethnic cleansing and genocide. Those people all exhibit their own brand of insanity. And it is a truly debilitating disease.
