Eye On Hate...seeking a kinder and gentler worldMartyrs, Heroes & Prisoners of War |
The Silent Brotherhood ("Bruder Schweigen,") was founded by Robert Jay Matthews. It was comprised of members from many different racist groups, the most notable of which were the Aryan Nations and the National Alliance, who wanted action to occur within the movement toward an all white homeland.
Matthews and his cohorts utilized the Turner Diaries as a blueprint for their organization and declared war upon the United States government, issuing a full declaration that was signed by the members:
An excerpt: "It is now a dark and dismal time in the history of our race. All about us lie the green graves of our sires, yet, in a land once ours, we have become a people dispossessed.... Our heroes and our culture have been insulted and degraded. The mongrel hordes clamor to sever us from our inheritance. Yet our people do not care. Throughout this land our children are being coerced into accepting nonwhites for their idols, their companions, and worst of all their mates. A course which is taking us straight to oblivion. Yet our people do not see...[sic] Not by accident but by design these terrible things have come to pass. It is self-evident to all who have eyes to see that an evil shadow has fallen across our once fair land. Evidence abounds that a certain vile, alien people have taken control of our country. How is it that a parasite has gained dominion over its host? Instead of being vigilant, our fathers have slept. What are we to do? How bleak these aliens have made our children's future. All about us the land is dying. Our cities swarm with dusky hordes. The water is rancid and the air is rank. Our farms are being seized by usurious leeches and our people are being forced off the land. The Capitalists and the Communists pick gleefully at our bones while the vile hook-nosed masters of usury orchestrate our destruction.... We hereby declare ourselves to be a free and sovereign people. We claim a territorial imperative which will consist of the entire North American continent north of Mexico.... As soldiers of the Aryan Resistance Movement (ARM) we will conduct ourselves in accordance with the Geneva Convention. We now close this Declaration with an open letter to Congress and our signatures confirming our intent to do battle. Let friend and foe alike be made aware. This is war! -- We the following, being of sound mind and under no duress, do hereby sign this document of our own free will, stating forthrightly and without fear that we declare ourselves to be in full and unrelenting state of war with those forces seeking and consciously promoting the destruction of our faith and our race. Therefore, for Blood, Soil, and Honor, and for the future of our children, we commit ourselves to Battle. Amen." The Order was able to acquire almost $4 million in its wave of robberies. The group also ran a large counterfeiting operation. This group was not made up of petty criminals. They had an ideology and they were funding a revolution that would hopefully lead to the creation of a white supremacist nation somewhere in the Northwest. The Order wasn't only funding their own group or revolution. They were also funding other groups that shared the same dream. Hundreds of thousands of dollars were distributed to other white supremacist and anti-Semitic groups in the United States. To date, two million of the stolen dollars still remains unaccounted for. Robert Matthews died in a fire while in the midst of a shoot out with government agents and is revered among all white supremacist organizations as a martyr and a soldier who died defending the white race. For a sum of $15 you can wear a tribute to Robert Matthews in the form a T-shirt with the "Bruder Schweigen" name emblazened above Robert's picture. The shirt, along with tributes to Matthews, can be found online at numerous hate sites where one will almost invariable find his last letter and the following commentary:"Robert Jay Mathews was killed in action fighting for over 24 hours in the midst of a hail of bullets and surrounded by over 75 government agents on Whidbey Island in December 1984. The Federal dogs eventually set fire to the cabin with the aid of a helicopter gunship, burning Robert Matthews alive with weapon in hand. He remained faithful to our cause until the end." We think that Robert Jay Matthews was a criminal of the worst kind. Not only was he guilty of bank and armored car robberies as well as complicity in murder, he was guilty of attempting to overthrow our government and building a paramilitary organization to that end. As to the reverence with which others of his ilk embrace him, we simply consider the source and watch them carefully. |

Richard Scutari is serving a 60 year sentence in the federal penitentiary in Florence, Colorado along with David Lane. While Scutari was indicted for complicty in the murder of Alan Berg, he was never convicted. Amonth after the Berg murder, however, Scutari and eleven other members of The Order engaged in an armored car robbery in Ukiah, California that netted the cause $3.6 million. After the indictment for the Berg murder and before the ensuing arrest for the armored car heist, Scutari high-talied it to San Antonio, Texas where he lived under an alias. At the time of his arrest several high-powered rifles were found in his home. Upon sentencing he commented to the judge "I had no choice but to strike out against a satanic government." As the investigation into The Order continued, Scutari found himself indicted once more. This time he was charged with seditious conspiracy by planning to overthrow the government, assassinate members of various ethnic groups, destruction of utilities, establishment of guerrilla training camps and assassination of federal officials. Scutari, like Lane has become quite prolific in his writings from behind bars and his opinions are eagerly sought by other racists. Volksfront, a Northest based racist group has often engaged in fund raising events for POW's. When attempting to raise money for Scutari, they issued the following statement: "We all owe this man a debt that cannot be repaid with money but sending a few dollars to help him is the least we can do to somewhat repay our obligation to this PRISONER OF WAR!...This is a real chance to make a difference to free our martyrs!" Richard Scutari's last bid for parole was denied. Perhaps it had something to do with his lack of remorse and his continued racial "teachings?" Or, perhaps the parole board read they read the racist materials that he publishes. We find it interesting that in the pictures that he makes available he is always half-clothed. |

Gary Yarborough is spending time - lots of time - in the federal prison in Marion, Illinois. He claims to be one of the initial members of Robert Matthews' The Order. Convicted on RICO violations for his part in the mayhem that The Order spread throughout the Pacific Northwest, Yarborough continues to spew his hate-filled and racist rhetoric through various publications of the extreme right. Apparently, Yarborough didn't take too kindly to FBI agents "spying" on him at his home. He was charged with ambushing federal agents when they came to arrest him. He managed to escape and later met up with Robert Matthews. The two were in a motel room, with former member turned informant Thomas Martinez, right next door, when federal agents surrounded them. Yarborough was arrested at the scene while Matthews fled to the infamous Whidbey Island site where he met is demise. Yarborough continues to staunchly defend both the actions and the members of The Order. His signature on outgoing messages always reads: "Hail the Bruders Schweigen and the 14 Words! --Gary Lee Yarbrough Bruders Schweigen, POW" It has been documented that The Order did not confine their violent escapdes to banks and non-whites but engaged in the murder of one of their own. Walter West, a member of Aryan Nations who was being recruited by the Bruder Schweigen, fell to disfavor largely because members believed he talked too much. In May of 1984, he was driven into the Idaho wilderness by Order members who then executed and buried him. When the subject was raised in Resistance Magazine, the National Alliance Publication, of Yarborough, Gary was quick to set the record straight: "Resistance claims "The Order" murdered one of its own recruits. I can only assume the author refers to Walter West, who was never even considered for recruitment into the Bruders Schweigen. West was a member of Aryan Nations, not "The Order," The only potential recruit we should have and would have "murdered" is Tom Martinez, who was a consort of William Pierce and a member of National Alliance..." Obviously, the bid of the National Alliance to portray itself as the "non-violent voice of white America" is reaching into the realm of discrediting The Order. However, try as they may, the fact still remains that several members of the NA were members of The Silent Brotherhood. Their effort can be easily exposed for the sham that is by visiting any number of regional NA sites to find tributes to The Order alive and well. |

Randy Evans was convicted for RICO acts and is currently serving time in the federal facility in Pollock, Louisiana. He was sentenced to 40 years for his part in the violent acts of "The Order." In 1999, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals refused to overturn Evans' bid for parole stating that because of his beliefs he is still considered to be a danger to society. Apparently there is justice through the court system. |

Richard Kemp was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy to racketeer and violation of the Hobbs Act. Kemp was found guilty of armored car robbery, the proceeds of which he spent. He was sentenced to three consecutive twenty year terms and is required to spend a minimum of 25 years behind bars. Kemp has been practicing Odinism within the confines of the federal facility in Sheraton, Oregon. He has not given up his racist beliefs and still defends the actions of The Order and its members. We sincerely hope that his continued embrace of the dogma of The Order will be a factor when his parole hearing rolls around in 2010. |
